Bobbin Lace Bookmarks

I’m so excited. I dug the lace pillow out from under the table it has been hiding under for the last year and a half. I decided I wanted to make up a supply of bookmarks that I could give as gifts. It is nice to have a supply because you never know when you might need one.

The pillow was so dusty, I didn’t cover it properly when I stopped using it and I still need to work on removing more dust. I decided not to wait and found a simple bookmark pattern I had done once before.

I was pleased to find I remembered how to make lace. I have not been doing it long enough to be comfortable leaving it for so long. A few miss starts and this is the first bookmark I completed.

I’m sorry to say I am having more trouble with my second attempt. It is the one pictured on the lace pillow now. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to do the half-stitch area on each of the book mark. After a couple evenings of trial and error - lots of error - I gave in and am working those areas in a whole-stitch that I am comfortable with. I will figure out the other stitch, just not for this project.
